A "computer forensics expert witness" is a witness that has been recognized as an expert by the court in an aspect of the recovery, analysis and reporting of digital evidence in accordance with forensically sound best practices. An expert witness is able to provide his or her opinion to the court for consideration in the specified area of expertise.

Affidavits & Depositions

Independent Advisor (Special Master)

FDR is often named as an independent advisor (special master) to the court.  Special Masters are appointed by the court in complex civil actions where their expertise would assist the court in developing the record. This process may be mutually advantageous to both parties as both parties would split the costs of the computer forensics investigation.
